Theresa BeresfordThis is the second in our series of SoleMates spotlights. GOTR Atlanta SoleMates are a group of men and women who are raising money for GOTR Atlanta while training for a race of their choice.

Name: Theresa Beresford

Profession: Marketing

Is this your first year as a GOTR SoleMate? Yes

What made you decide to join GOTR SoleMates? It’s a cause that I can relate to. I ran cross country in high school and enjoyed the spirit and comraderie of my team. It’s a great confidence builder for young girls.

What is your target race? Jingle Jog 5K in December

What do you like to do when not being active for GOTR SoleMates? Swimming and other water activities.

Where is your favorite place to run? Anywhere with a beautiful view.

What advice would you give to a new runner or athlete? Be consistent and patient. It’s all about a routine and keeping up your workouts if you want to see improvements in your performance.

What is your favorite motto or saying? Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. – Ralph Waldo Emerson

What has been your best GOTR SoleMates experience? My first run at West Stride. The group I ran with really meshed well and encouraged each other to go the distance. Plus I ended up buying a great pair of shoes afterwards.

What would you say to anyone thinking of joining GOTR SoleMates? This program is not only life-changing for young girls, it’s also an inspiration for those that volunteer. It’s a very positive environment, and it encourages healthy living for all. Hope to meet you at one of the races or the next group run!
