Tomorrow is World Run Day!

November 7, 2009

WRD2009activeOn Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009, runners across the U.S. will celebrate World Run Day. An annual and unique one-day fundraiser, World Run Day benefits both local and international charities by celebrating running and charity. Runners register to run their favorite distance and pledge a donation to their favorite charity. Results are posted and then calculated for a worldwide total. It’s uniquely structured for donations to benefit “any charity on the face of the earth” and is commonly referred to as “an International Day of Charity.” More than 1,400 charity runners across the U.S. are registered to take part, and have raised money for more than 1,000 charities, making this the largest World Run Day since its inception in 1999.

Although World Run Day is tomorrow (sorry for not getting this out to you guys sooner), it’s not too late to register. All registrants will have a t-shirt mailed to them. The best part is, you don’t have to be running an official race tomorrow to take part in the event.

World Run Day’s Web site lists the Top 20 World Run Day cities – sadly, Atlanta isn’t on the list this year; Philadelphia and San Francisco have claimed the top spots.  The site also provides a World Run Day Planning Kit.
