GOTR SoleMates Spotlight: Sandy Kruger

December 8, 2009

Sandy's in the dead center along with fellow SoleMates at the end of the 13.1 Atlanta Half.

This is the sixth in our series of GOTR Atlanta SoleMates Spotlights. GOTR SoleMates is a group of men and women training for an event of their choosing while raising money for GOTR Atlanta.

 Name: Sandy Kruger

Profession: Development Manager – Society of Biblical Literature

Is this your first year as a GOTR SoleMate? Yes

What made you decide to join GOTR SoleMates?  My friend, Martha Pacini, volunteers for GOTR and she invited me to an event. I was amazed at how many girls were involved and the difference GOTR makes in their lives.  I love to run and what a better way to be a positive role model to young girls.

What is your target race?  My Solemates target race was the Inaugural 13.1 Atlanta. Additionally, I am doing the 2010 Peak Performance Half-Marathon in Portland, Maine

What do you like to do when not being active for GOTR SoleMates?  Traveling, reading, hanging out with my husband and dogs.

Where is your favorite place to run?  Right now – San Francisco- it is hilly but absolutely beautiful.

What advice would you give to a new runner or athlete?  Run Walk Run – take those breaks – your recovery will be much better.

What is your favorite motto or saying?  Enjoy your run! – soak up the beauty and just be in the moment.

What has been your best GOTR SoleMates experience?    The 5k Race in November – those girls had me awestruck – truly amazing.

What would you say to anyone thinking of joining GOTR SoleMates?  Do it- the girls are so much fun and what a difference you can make by doing something you love – running!

What is your next race?  Disney’s Princess Half-Marathon in March.  (Editors note: A few other Solemates are doing this race as their Solemates Fundraising race – should be a great weekend!)
