Great CSO Noteworthy 5K this past weekend!

February 24, 2010

Girls on the Run Atlanta was at this past weekend’s Inaugural Noteworty 5K, benefitting the Cobb Symphony Orchestra.  There was a great turnout and with such beautiful weather, everyone was in good spirits.  And because the Junior League of Cobb’s Mardi Gras race was postponed from the weekend before, due to snow, they raced alongside those in the Noteworthy, making the number of runners even larger!

From the CSO’s blog:

The Cobb Symphony Orchestra’s first annual Noteworthy 5K Run/Walk this past weekend was a roaring success. (See the video below!) We had some top-flight runners. Over 500 runners came out for both our Noteworthy 5K and the Mardi Gras 5K – which was “snowed out last weekend.” We had a boisterously enthusiastic group from Girls On The Run, a great organization for 3rd through 8th grade girls. We had an awesome corporate sponsor, Kaiser Permanente. We had Greg Talmadge from True Oldies 106.7 as MC. We had musicians. We had young, we had old, we had everything in between. We had fabulous weather. We had fun!!!

The Noteworthy 5K is yet another example of how the CSO works hard to improve our quality of life. Yes of course, it’s the music, feeding our minds and souls, but it’s more. It’s partnering with other non-profits. It’s promoting health – as Kaiser does – by conducting a 5K. It’s working with our schools. (Thanks Coach Hall!!! Now you know why the music teachers are so fired up.) It’s camaraderie. It’s bringing artists, athletes, volunteers, philanthropists and promoters of our community together.

I should have gotten this runner’s name, but I didn’t, so just enjoy her super awesome cheek tattoo!
