How can I help the people of Japan?

March 17, 2011

Japan_Earthquake_TsunamiWe’ve all been struck by the images from Japan these last few days. Like many, I wondered how I could help the people of Japan. I’ve done some searching and found several different avenues to send aid, as I know everyone has a different way they like to help. Check out each of the links below and see where you can help.

  • American Red Cross: Text REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation. The donation will show up as a charge on your next phone bill.
  • Google Crisis Response: Google has compiled donation links for the Japanese Red Cross, UNICEF, Save the Children and International Medical Corps. Click here to visit this site.
  • Animal Refuge Kansai: ARK is a non-profit that is aiding in the rescue of the displaced animals of Japan. If you would like to learn more and donate, click here.
  • Hot Soba to Warm Hearts: This is an effort of the Japan Human Resource Association. They are taking donations to provide hot meals for the displaced. To learn more and donate, click here. (scroll down to view the portion in English)
  • Direct Relief International: DRI has partnered up with the Japanese American Citizens League. 100% of funds go to relief. Click here to donate.
