Yet Another Example of How Fitness Brings Youth Together

April 25, 2013

We’re very excited that our Spring 5K is this upcoming weekend. If you’ve not already registered, you can still sign up at West Stride today and Friday and then at the race itself on Saturday morning. Learn more here. It’s wonderful to see all the girls who’ve worked so hard through the semester reap the rewards of their efforts. It’s also heartwarming to watch them cheer each other on and truly embrace the spirit of sportsmanship. That’s why when I saw this video, I had to share it with the rest of the GOTR community. It’s yet another example of how youth sports and fitness brings out the best in our kids and everyone else.

The back story: Matt has Spastic Cerebral Palsy, but opted to run in Field Day at Colonial Hills Elementary School despite being given the option to sit it out and despite the incredible challenge of his disability. What transpires is a boy who is filled with determination and a school of children who spontaneously come together and inspire Matt and everyone of us to do and be better.

Grab a box of tissues and watch the magic happen.
